In traditional surrogacy, the surrogate mother is related to one of the intended parents. Therefore, this type of surrogacy is due to provide a genetic link. While the intended parents belong to same-sex, single or heterosexual couple and the woman cannot use her uterus, traditional surrogacy might help them get the most desired genetic link

In gestational surrogacy, the surrogate mother is chosen from outside and any fear arising from the genetic link is completely evacuated. This type of surrogacy allows numerous mother to become related to their individual child. Gestational surrogacy is basically a technique that is popularly known as In Vitro Fertilization or IVF. These latest technologies help to gather eggs from the mother and fertilize these with sperm from the father and finally place the entire thing in the uterus of the mother engaged for surrogacy. The replacement has to carry the baby till the time of birth. Therefore, she has no genetic tie-ups with the child since the egg that is used would be different from hers.
